You’ve heard of The MoonWalk Scotland - Edinburgh’s iconic night-time fundraising event, organised by breast cancer charity Walk the Walk. But did you know that The MoonWalk now has a 6.55 mile Power Walking challenge - the New Moon?
On Saturday 7th June, thousands of people wearing brightly decorated bras will Power Walk through Edinburgh from Inverleith Park at Midnight, raising money and awareness for breast cancer.
The 6.55 miles New Moon is an exciting addition to the event and is the perfect challenge for those who can’t commit to the longer distances, the Half Moon (13.1 miles), Full Moon (26.2 miles) and Over The Moon (52.4 miles). Now everyone can join in the unbelievable atmosphere and camaraderie of The MoonWalk Scotland - the minimum age for entering the New Moon is just ten years old.
Every year, The MoonWalk has a special theme – in 2014, Edinburgh will be overflowing with “superheroes” of all shapes and sizes, from Wonder Woman to Superman, Robert the Bruce to Sir Chris Hoy, and maybe a few Mary Dolls and Rab C Nesbitts! Walk the Walk is expecting some crazy creations, as Walkers are inspired to decorate their bras, by people or characters who’ve inspired them.
Entries for the New Moon and for the Half Moon (13.1 miles) are open at www.walkthewalk.org/moonwalkscotland, where you can also register as a volunteer. Entries for the Full Moon and Over The Moon are already closed.
To date, The MoonWalk has raised a staggering £16.5 million, with most of the money staying in Scotland to help improve the lives of people with cancer.
